Localization Study of a Non-local Energetic Damage Model
The contribution presents an analysis of a rate-independent non-local damage model, recently proposed by Mielke and Roub́ıček (2006). An analytical as well as numerical solution of a simple one-dimensional bifurcation problem is performed, demonstrating that, for the elementary localization test, the model is free of pathological features.
متن کاملCoupling local and non-local damage evolutions with the Thick Level Set model
It is well known that damage evolution models requires a length to avoid spurious localization. We gather these type of models under the name “non-local damage models”. In fact, non-locality is strictly needed only when the stress-strain curve starts to have a negative slope. Before this point, local models may be used. For instance, when damage exhibits some hardening, the stress-strain curve ...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Mixed-mode Fracture in Concrete via a Non-local Damage Model
A "slightly" modified version of the "crush-crack" damage model (di Prisco and Mazars, 1996) is here presented and applied to numerical analysis of typical mixed-mode fracture tests. Besides the validation of the proposed modifications, the work is also instrumental in understanding the reliability of either the shear behaviour description supplied by the model and of the proposed test geometri...
متن کاملNon-Local Observables in the A-Model
We compute correlators of non-local observables in a large class of Atwisted massive Landau-Ginzburg and gauged linear sigma models by localization to the discrete vacua. As an application, we present two topological field theories with identical chiral rings and correlators of local observables, which nevertheless differ in the correlators of non-local observables.
متن کاملA non-local model for a swarm
This paper describes continuum models for swarming behavior based on non-local interactions. The interactions are assumed to in uence the velocity of the organisms. The model consists of integro-di erential advection-di usion equations, with convolution terms that describe long range attraction and repulsion. We nd that if density dependence in the repulsion term is of a higher order than in th...
